The question of expression in the digital age of the indexical image

A self does not amount to much, but no self is an island; each exists in a fabric of relations that is now more complex and mobile than ever before. Young or old, man or woman, rich or poor, a person is always located at ‘nodal points’ of specific communication circuits, however tiny these may be. Or better: one is always located at a post through which various kinds of messages pass.
Jean-François Lyotard

“The self is only a threshold, a door, a becoming between two multiplicities”  Gilles Deleuze

In an age of hyperreal image fetish and of digital indexical simulation where aura (post Walter Benjamin), meaning,  and the real are disintegrating, what space left for true authentic meaningful expression in creative practice in the post modern Panopticon? This series of work explores these themes synthesized with ideas of quantum physics and  mechanics. One important process in the making of these works is the burning of objects, artworks or prints of art, and turning the ash into paint pigment with which I make the paintings. This is a re-interpretation of the Hindu practice of ‘Antiyesti’.
